The inaugural Crested Butte Songwriters Festival will feature performances by a collection of the best performing songwriters in the world. Slated for January 13-15, 2012, the festival will revolve around three nights of performances staged at Crested Butte hot spots. Crowds will experience the faces, voices and stories behind hit songs during signature in-the-round acoustic performances and raucous, dance-inducing sets will dominate the schedule.
An event-capping benefit concert will be held on Saturday night, January 14, to raise funds for Tough Enough to Wear Pink and the TJ Martell Foundation.
Performances will feature a diverse collection of the world’s top songwriters. Texas roots country hero Robert Earl Keen; veteran troubadour Dean Dillon, writer of more than 50 classics for George Strait; country icon and hit writer Mac Davis; up-and-coming country stars Jake Owen, Kristen Kelly, Nicolle Galyon, Emily Shackelton, and Kristy Lee Cook; modern country hit songwriter Rodney Clawson (“Amarillo Sky” and “Johnny Cash” by Jason Aldean, “Sunshine and Summertime” by Faith Hill); and Crested Butte local favorites Tyler Hansen, Steve Snyder and David Paulik. |

Hold your horses.
Kristy is always riding horses. And she has been driving big trucks since she was a teenager (just like you would expect). Lot's of trucks. Trucks for hauling hay. Trucks for carrying tack. Trucks for trailering her horses all around the country to events and rodeos.

With her new show "Goin' Country" airing on the Versus channel, former American Idol star and current country music siren Kristy Lee Cook is out to prove herself in more ways than one. This 26-year-old down-home girl has set out to show the world that she's not just another blond-haired, blue-eyed pop product. Her new reality show follows the singer as she locks up a record deal while testing her hunting chops chasing big game from Oregon to Tennessee.
Cook, who's been hunting for about six years, is more than comfortable in front of the cameras after her stint on Idol, but she's just coming into her own with a rifle in hand. Don't sleep on this Washington native, though, she makes it look easy at times with her Browning .270 WSM that she's dubbed the "stainless-steel stalker." As she says, "it's Browning or nothing for this girl."
